Many products are susceptible to contamination by pathogens. Such contamination may occur during the production, packaging and/or during use by the consumer. In order to assess the proper compliance with good manufacturing practices and to minimise the risk to consumer health, products should be subject to microbiological checks:

• Mesophilic aerobic bacteria count
• Mould and yeast count
• Escherichia coli
• Staphylococcus aureus
• Pseudomonas aeruginosa
• Candida albicans
